Visual Stress

Stage 1 Assessments in Yorkshire

Visual stress is not an optical or medical problem, it is a visual perceptual dysfunction affecting the brain's ability to process visual information causing difficulties primarily with reading and writing-based subjects. Using the Eqilens method of diagnosis, Lisa uses colour to filter out offensive light waves, so that the brain can accurately process visual information, which can lead to improved reading fluency, comfort, comprehension, attention, and concentration while reducing light sensitivity.

Irlen Syndrome is listed in Section 59 of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as a disabling condition. Other learning difficulties included are Dyslexia; Dyscalculia; Dyspraxia; Alexia; Auditory Processing Disorder; and Dysgraphia.

About Us

At 9 years old, my amazing, unique, funny, intelligent, articulate daughter couldn't read or write. Not a single word! Nada!

School decided that they wouldn't assess her for dyslexia until she was in Year 6 (she would be 11 years old then!) and so, even though I was a single mum with limited funds, I paid for a private assessment.

The assessor was brilliant! "Yes your daughter is severely dyslexic and she may also have visual stress"

I had never heard of visual stress and good ol' Google wasn't much help either!

But I was put in touch with a beautiful person who carried out visual stress assessments and so started our journey into the depths of visual stress!

Now at almost 14 years old, my daughter has been wearing tinted lenses for 5 years and these have absolutely changed her life! She is doing so well academically, outdoing her peers and is a much happy person with lasting power now. No more early evening naps and grumpiness because she is exhausted from being at school!

At 45 years old, I was diagnosed with visual stress after complaining about finding driving at night so difficult and how looking at my computer for long periods of time made me feel so grotty. Not great when you work as a virtual assistant!

Having visual stress diagnoses has impacted and changed my family's life so much that I made the decision to train to help other families and so I am now an accredited VSC Ltd private assessor offering Stage 1 visual stress assessments in Yorkshire.

Our Process

Stage 1 Assessment

The screening assessment will determine whether a client has visual stress, how severe the client’s problem is and whether colour can help eliminate their difficulties. This graded assessment takes approximately one hour and a range of visual tasks are undertaken. We then work with the client to assess the benefits of the correct overlay across criteria associated with reading skills. The client will receive the correct coloured overlay with report and client profile. A home or workplace assessment can be arranged (travel expenses applied).

Fee: £95

After

Your report and client profile will be emailed to you within 10 days. This contains advice for your education establishment or workplace.

You will then be asked to leave a fantastic review and to tell all your friends about Colour You Happy 😃

Stage 2

If required, I will refer you to Visual Stress Consultancy Ltd to arrange a Stage 2 Assessment for tinted lenses.
